Deciding On The Best Outdoor Electric Grills

There are many times that you need an outdoor electric grill. Many campsites and RV parks now have many restrictions about open flame cooking, so propane gas grills, or charcoal Bar-B-Que are no longer acceptable. In order to still be able to cook you have to either have a trailer, or use an electric grill. Luckily, there are many different models to choose from and many of these can be used indoors as well. When you are looking for an outdoor grill there are some things you need to consider.

There are many different features you need for an electric outdoor grill and one of these is adequate cooking surface. Many grills are smaller than average, but there are a few that fit the bill. George Foreman, who has been a leader in the indoor grilling scene, also has products that can be used both inside and out. His products also include another important feature that any health conscious person should be concerned about, getting the grease and fat away from the food. All of the products from George Foreman have channels and a separate tray that draws the grease away from the food so you don't have to worry about all that fat.

Another feature that you should have when it comes to an electric outdoor grill is the ability to take the cooking surface and wash it. Many electric grills have cooking grids with non stick coatings that can be easily removed for cleaning. This is a big problem when it comes to using a gas or charcoal grill, they can get really nasty, and short of using a power washer they are near impossible to get all the gunk off of.

There are many electric outdoor grills that can be taken apart and either cleaned in the kitchen sink, or even put in the dishwasher. One of them is the Sunbeam BBQ Grill, model #H055A. This small electric grill has two cooking surfaces, a slotted grill, plus a smooth surface to either keep your food warm or to cook breakfast items like eggs or pancakes. This unit has a removable drip tray, and all the grilling areas can be put into the dishwasher. It has a Teflon non stick coating that is even safe for metal utensils. This unit has a manufacturer's retail price of just under $100.

Any electric grill you buy should have a domed lid for even cooking. This way both sides of the food cook at the same time and you don't wind up with food that is half raw. You will want a grill with adjustable heat settings, and one that will heat up very fast, stay hot, and some people may even want the idea of having grill marks on their food. One unit that accomplishes all of these is the Weber Q-140 Electric Grill. It is small enough to take just about anywhere, has a stainless-steel cooking surface that will make grill marks on your steaks or chicken, and has an insulated lid that will reheat faster than many other lesser quality products.

One important thing to note no matter what grills you buy is to protect your expensive grill appliances with grill covers. Anything left outside will face the constant onslaught of dust and dirt from the wind. Gas grill covers minimize the need for cleaning because they effectively block most dust, dirt and other foreign objects from getting to your grill.
